What is it? This is the vision statement for Grass Roots Co-Op, “our goal is to authenticate the integrity of your food. We believe it shouldn’t be so difficult to understand what you’re eating and how it was raised. And that’s what sets us apart—ridiculously high standards and transparency from our pastures to your plate.
Unlike big meat companies, we empower you to ask questions. We want you to understand the differences between farms and factories and why scale is a critical component of animal husbandry, environmental stewardship, and food safety. So, we make everything we do—from picking feed to pricing—fully transparent. We’re changing how animals are raised and how conscientious consumers shop so that you can eat with confidence. Join the movement—trust your food and eat with confidence.”
What do I think? You never know what you will get when a company ships frozen meats through the mail. The process of ordering and selecting the products from Grass Roots Farmers’ Cooperative was very simple to use. I liked how easy it was to customize my order and mix and match the meats that I wanted. In my order, I tossed in a double package of bacon, three steaks, a 2 lb. roast, chicken breasts and wings. It shipped fast and was packaged well. The bacon was thick and smokey-flavored and the roast literally fell of the bone while cooking. Flavor for all the chicken was excellent and the steaks were beefy and filling. Only tip I would have is you definitely want to thaw the steaks completely and cut them in half before cooking (aka butterfly them).
Why do you need it & when should you use it? Using this company is an effective and cost efficient way to get quality meat products delivered right to your doorstep (and delicious too). Grass Roots Co-op lets you set up a monthly subscription so you can get your meat products each month or order them as needed.
How do you get it? Use their website and customize your order or grab one of their pre-selected bundles. Prices are based on the products you buy but are comparable to prices from local markets and other online meat services.
