James Toland officially began his career as a published fitness writer in the winter of 2012. That December, he wrote athlete profile articles for the CrossFit Games website which spanned the Open, Regionals and the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games season. The following June, James began writing a weekly blog for The Box Magazine and has continued to publish weekly since that time. After returning to complete a second season as a writer for the CrossFit Games in 2014, James acquired additional freelance work for CrossFit friendly companies penning mostly athlete bio work. In July of 2014, he worked in Carson, California at the 2014 Reebok CrossFit Games as a video graphics assistant and CrossFit athlete information expert. When he isn’t working as a professional writer, James is teaching high school English, is a husband, father of twins and a coach for various sports including soccer and basketball. He completed his CrossFit L-1 trainer certification in June of 2014 and coaches part time.
During his tenure at The Box Magazine, James has been able to work with a vast array of CrossFit focused companies reviewing everything from mobility devices to nutritional products to shoes, shorts and shirts.

Kate Roeber started her CrossFit career back in 2010 while completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Movement & Exercise Science from the University of Northern Iowa. She fell in love with the “Sport of Fitness” and hasn’t looked back since. Kate has competed with the CrossFit Kilo Regionals and Games teams for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, and will continue with them for the upcoming 2015 season.
After college, Kate worked as a coordinator and team lead for a healthcare cost-containment company from 2011 – 2014. When presented with the opportunity to coach full time and manage her own gym, she left the security of her corporate job, and followed her passion for improving the lives of others through fitness. When outside of the gym, Kate spends her time with her fiance and their dog, a boxer named Macy. You’re most likely to find her drinking coffee, redecorating her home, learning to play guitar, and taking pictures.
